Having a safe place to play sports with their friends, join a team, complete their homework and learn from positive role models is the right of every child. Through the Field of Dreams program, Jays Care invests in the creation of safe youth spaces so that all kids can reach their full potential. To date, Jays Care has invested more $3.5 million in 35 Field of Dreams legacy projects, including the refurbishment of 17 baseball fields, across Canada.

In 2012, Jays Care disbursed more than $900,000 in Field of Dreams funding to 10 charitable and community groups to build safe youth spaces from coast to coast. These organizations include:

Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC, Town of Oromocto - Waasis Ball Diamonds, East Nepean Baseball Association, Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club, St. John's Minor Baseball Association, Eva's Initiatives, Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation, and Smythe Park - Home of the York Baseball Association.

In 2012, eight legacy projects opened their doors and are impacting more than 7,600 kids. These organizations include:

YMCA Central, Stan Wadlow Park - Home of the East York Baseball Association, Cabbagetown Youth Centre, A.R. Kaufman Family YMCA, Chaplin Family YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC - Langley and Surrey Chapters, Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club

FIELD OF DREAMS R.F.P. GUIDELINES & PROJECT CRITERIA

Field of Dreams supports capital space projects that increase access for children and youth to programs that focus on:
- Physical Activity (particularly increasing access to the sport of baseball)
- Education
- Life Skill Development
Field of Dreams supports capital space projects across Canada
Field of Dreams funding proposals may include, but are not limited to:
- The building of new infrastructure
- Improving existing spaces to increase programming capacity, overall usage, safety, accessibility and inclusiveness.
- Proposals may also address the provision of capital investment in equipment
Proposed capital projects on City property require the support of the local municipality
- PLEASE NOTE: Applications for improvements to City of Toronto facilities must be vetted by the City of Toronto on behalf of the community organization. Examples of projects may include:

Baseball field renovations
Multipurpose recreation spaces
Dedicated youth spaces in community centres

Amount of Funding Available:

Up to $150,000
(multi-year projects may be considered)

FIELD OF DREAMS REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS

Jays Care Foundation has moved its Granting Program to an online platform. In order to be eligible, all submissions must be made through our new online system. Please click on the "APPLY NOW" button to register and access our 2013 Field of Dreams grant application. APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 31, 2013.

STEP 1: SUBMIT A FIELD OF DREAMS LETTER OF INQUIRY

A letter of inquiry must be submitted to determine whether the project meets the basic criteria of Jays Care Foundation's Field of Dreams program. Letter of Inquiry submission deadline: JANUARY 31, 2013. In your online letter inquiry, your organization will be required to provide the following information:

Organization Information

Mission statement, organizational goals, and a brief summary of the organization's history
Description of current programs and activities

Project Details

Detailed description of the project
Description of how JCF funds will be used
If the project is located on City property, City Approval/Support is required
Issues/needs to be addressed by the project
Demographic reach of the project (groups that will benefit from the project; ages served; snapshot of the neighbourhood served)
Total children and youth served
Funding strategy for the project
How Jays Care Foundation's support will be acknowledged

STEP 2: SUBMIT A FIELD OF DREAMS PROPOSAL

By MARCH 1, 2013, your organization will be notified if it has been invited to submit a full proposal. Invited organizations will be required to submit more detailed information that will create a better understanding of the project and how it corresponds to the mandate and evaluation criteria of Jays Care Foundation.

STEP 3: PROPOSAL REVIEW PROCESS

Proposals will be reviewed by Jays Care Foundation and you may be contacted for a follow up meeting to discuss your proposal. Jays Care Foundation's Board of Directors will review all recommendations and determine which projects are to be funded. Field of Dreams funding will be awarded by MAY 31, 2013.
