COACHING CAREER: Nilson Antigua is in his first season on the Major League coaching staff...he replaced veteran bullpen catcher Mike Stefanski, who after 10 years in that position is now the club's Major League catching coordinator...for five seasons from 2009-2013 Antigua was the organization's hitting coach and catching instructor in the Dominican Summer League.

PLAYING CAREER: The former catcher was signed by the Pirates as a non-drafted free agent on 10/9/92...was signed by Pablo Cruz...in 1996 was a New York-Penn League All-Star after throwing out 29-55 baserunners attempting to steal (53%)...while with Lynchburg in 1997 shared catching duties with Craig Wilson...spent the 1999 season with the independent North League Central's Sioux Falls Canaries and Atlantic League's Atlantic City Surf...from 2002-2005 spent four seasons in the Italian Baseball League, where he played for Firenze, Bologna and Rimini.
