MANAGERIAL/COACHING CAREER: Juan Enrique Lopez is in his sixth season in the organization...on Oct. 30, 2007 was hired as bullpen coach on the Major League staff...previously worked with manager Dusty Baker in both San Francisco and Chicago...was on the Giants' big league staff as a coaching assistant in 1996, as bullpen catcher from 1997-98 and as bullpen coach from 1999-2002...from 2003-06 served under Baker as the Cubs' bullpen catcher...before joining the Giants' Major League staff, he coached in their minor league system in 1990 during extended spring training, from 1991-93 at rookie Scottsdale, in 1994 at Class A Everett and in 1995 at Class A Bellingham, Scottsdale and Class AAA Phoenix...spent the 2007 season as manager of the New York Mets' Gulf Coast League team.

PLAYING CAREER: In 1983 was signed by the Indians as a non-drafted free agent...played six seasons in the minor leagues for the Indians, Astros and Giants organizations.

PERSONAL: Nickname is 1978 graduated from Nicolas Sevilla High School in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico...played baseball at Yavapai Junior College in Prescott, Arizona...wife's name is Flor Sanchez...they have three children, Jack Lopez, Aleimalee and Johnnielee...son Jack, an infielder at Deltona (Fla.) High School, was selected by the Royals in the 16th round of the June 2011 first-year player draft.
