COACHING CAREER: Lee Tinsley is in his second season on the Major League coaching staff...before joining the Reds spent 5 seasons as 1B coach for the Diamondbacks (2006-2008) and Mariners (2009-2010) followed by 3 years as the Cubs' minor league outfield/ baserunning coordinator...began his coaching career in 2001 as hitting coach at Class AA El Paso...the next season joined the Angels as a roving outfield instructor, then from 2003-2005 held that same position with Arizona.

PLAYING CAREER: The former outfielder was selected by the A's with the 11th overall pick of the June 1987 free-agent draft...played for Boston in the 1995 ALDS vs Cle...in 1999 made 30 apps for the Reds' Class AAA Indianapolis affiliate...finished his playing career in 2000 while playing in the independent and Mexican leagues.

PERSONAL: In 1987 graduated from Shelby County High School in Shelbyville, KY...as a senior was the Gatorade National Player of the Year (.569, 16hr, 65ab)...also played football and turned down a scholarship to play defensive back for Purdue...wife's name is Susan...they have 3 children, Kobie, Ethan and Nia.
