COACHING CAREER: Lee Tinsley is in his first season in the organization...spent the previous three years as the Cubs' minor league outfield/baserunning coordinator...spent five seasons as a first base coach in the Major Leagues for the Diamondbacks (2006-2008) and Mariners (2009-2010)...began his coaching career in 2001 as the hitting coach at Double-A El Paso...the next season he joined the Angels as a roving outfield instructor, then from 2003-2005 held that same position with Arizona.

PLAYING CAREER: The former outfielder was selected by the A's with the 11th overall pick of the June 1987 free-agent draft...played for Boston in the 1995 ALDS vs. 1999 made 30 apps for the Reds' Triple-A Indianapolis affiliate...finished his playing career in 2000 while playing in the independent and Mexican leagues.

PERSONAL: In 1987 graduated from Shelby County High School in Shelbyville, a senior was the Gatorade National Player of the Year (.569, 16hr in 65ab)...also played football and turned down a scholarship to play defensive back for Purdue...wife's name is Susan...they have three children, Kobie, Ethan and Nia.
