Perhaps a few will be recognized with one of MLB.com's Greatness in Baseball Yearly Awards.
Major League Baseball's A-listers will take home 2012 GIBBYs trophies -- the ultimate honors of the sport's awards season -- based on votes by media, front-office personnel, MLB alumni, fans at MLB.com and the Society for American Baseball Research.
This year's GIBBY Awards feature nominees in 21 categories. Individual honors will go to the MLB MVP, in addition to the year's best starting pitcher, hitter, closer, setup man, rookie, breakout hitter, breakout pitcher, comeback player, defensive player, manager, executive and postseason performer.
GIBBY trophies also will be awarded for the year's top play, storyline, hitting performance, pitching performance, oddity, walk-off, Cut4 topic and postseason moment, from MLB.com's Must C highlight reels.
The Reds have GIBBY nominees in nine categories.
Ace Johnny Cueto, who won a career-high 19 games, is a nominee for the best starting pitcher. Lefty Sean Marshall, who had a 2.51 ERA in 73 games, is up for an award in the best setup man category.
Catcher Ryan Hanigan, who established several offensive career highs while leading the Majors in catcher's ERA at 3.05 with 11 shutouts caught, is part of the best defensive player category. Aroldis Chapman, who became a closer on May 20 and saved 38 games in often dominant fashion, is part of the breakout pitcher group. Infielder Todd Frazier, who hit 19 homers and filled in well for both Joey Votto and Scott Rolen, is among those in the top rookie category.
In the best pitching performance division, Homer Bailey is a nominee for his Sept. 28 no-hitter at Pittsburgh.
The architects of the Reds are also recognized as nominees -- Dusty Baker for best manager and general manager Walt Jocketty for top executive.
And one of second baseman Brandon Phillips' many dazzling fielding moments earned a top play nomination.
In the past four years, you the fans have cast more than 40 million votes across the various GIBBYs categories, none of which were restricted to individual League affiliation.
You can vote as many times as you want until fan balloting closes Sunday, Dec. 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Winners will be presented their GIBBY trophies at the MLB.com Greatness in Baseball Yearly Awards extravaganza during the Winter Meetings in Nashville on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
