Reds announce the addition of the Reds Futures High School Showcase

The Reds Spring Showcase at Great American Ball Park on April 3rd featuring the Reds of today and the future Reds of tomorrow will be preceded by the inaugural Reds Futures High School Showcase presented by PNC, with 50 high school baseball teams from Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky playing 25 games from March 24 to April 2 at local ballparks.

The culminating event of the High School Showcase will be the players from the 50 high school teams being invited to join the Reds on the field pre-game at the April 3rd Reds vs. Futures Spring Showcase.

"Adding this high school showcase as part of what we have planned for our Reds vs. Futures event at Great American Ball Park on April 3rd ties yet another generation of baseball players to this celebration of our city's rich baseball heritage," said Phil Castellini, Reds Chief Operating Officer.

Many of the games feature matchups with the area's best teams playing at the region's premier baseball facilities including Prasco Park, University of Cincinnati's Marge Schott Stadium, Midland Field, Harrison High School and Simon Kenton High School.

Games also will be played at three fields that have been part of the Reds ongoing field renovation projects including Roselawn Park, Western Hills High School and Meinken Field in Covington, Ky.

"It's great to finally be able to stage an event like this for high school baseball in this area," said Tom Gamble, president of In-Game Sports, which is managing the event for the Reds. "The tradition and quality of play here deserves a center stage, and the Reds are making it extra special by being so involved."

The first pitch of the event is Saturday, March 24 at Noon when Turpin faces Western Hills at one of Cincinnati's most tradition-laden facilities and schools, Western Hills High School.

"PNC proudly supports the communities where our customers live, and this opportunity to join our partner, the Cincinnati Reds, in showcasing high school baseball's achievement is a natural fit for us," said Kay Geiger,  regional president of PNC Bank, Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Tickets for all 25 games are just $5.  Each ticket purchased includes a voucher that is good for a future Reds game along with a coupon for a free Skyline Chili Cheese Coney, while supplies last at participating schools.

Advance tickets can be purchased at participating schools beginning March 14 and also will be available on game days at the gate.
