Baker happy to see McKeon back in game
CINCINNATI -- The baseball world was abuzz Monday with the news 80-year-old Jack McKeon was back in the dugout to serve as interim manager of the Marlins.McKeon, who managed the Reds from 1997-2000 and led the Marlins to a 2003 World Series title, replaced Edwin Rodriguez, who resigned on Sunday. Reds manager Dusty Baker, who turned 62 last week, was asked if he had any desire to manage in his 80s. "I don't know. It depends if my wife was tired of me being home. Or if I was," Baker said with a laugh. "At this point in my life, you hate to say what you wouldn't do because things change. I remember Casey Stengel was around almost that long. I happen to like Trader Jack. I'm happy to see Jack back. I'm sorry to see one of my colleagues resign or lose his job. They're looking for the same manager in Jack that they had before."
Reds pitcher Homer Bailey, who has been on the disabled list since May 28 with a right shoulder strain, will start for Triple-A Louisville against Pawtucket on Tuesday in his third rehab assignment game. ... In a presentation before the game, right fielder Jay Bruce received his National League Player of the Month Award for May.
