The Kid now 14 behind Sosa for fifth place all-time

CHICAGO -- Reds right fielder Ken Griffey Jr. is now five home runs away from 600. In the third inning Tuesday night at Wrigley Field with the Reds trailing by a 2-1 score, Griffey hit his second homer of the season and No. 595 of his career. The Reds went on to lose by a 9-5 score. Griffey did not speak to reporters after the game.
The two-run shot came on a 2-1 pitch from Cubs starting pitcher Ryan Dempster and landed in the first few rows of the bleachers in left-center field. Griffey is sixth on the all-time list for home runs, and is 14 behind Sammy Sosa's 609.
Dempster is the 379th different pitcher that Griffey has homered against. He has eight career homers at Wrigley Field.
Griffey was wearing No. 42 in Tuesday's game on the 61st anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking baseball's color barrier.
