Reds' Arroyo shaky in final tuneup

Phillips hits sixth homer of spring, but Cincy falls to Minnesota

Reds at the plate: Brandon Phillips hit his team-leading sixth home run of spring with a two-run shot to left field in the sixth inning. Alex Gonzalez's third-inning double snapped an 0-for-17 streak.

Twins at the plate: Jeff Cirillo was 2-for-3 with a single and an RBI double in the fourth. Cirillo also had a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Rondell White was 2-for-3 with a double. White scored on Jason Bartlett's second-inning single. Bartlett later scored on Luis Castillo's sacrifice fly. Castillo was 2-for-3 with a seventh-inning double.

Reds on the mound: In his final spring start, Bronson Arroyo battled with command issues and pitched five innings and allowed three earned runs and seven hits. Arroyo, who threw 33 first-inning pitches, walked one and struck out one. Battling for the final bullpen spot, Jon Coutlangus turned in another good outing with one scoreless inning on one hit. Dustin Hermanson allowed two unearned runs and two hits in one inning.

Twins on the mound: Likely fifth starter Carlos Silva pitched five scoreless innings. Silva gave up two hits and hit a batter with two strikeouts. Jesse Crain allowed two earned runs and two hits with two strikeouts in one inning. Pat Neshek and Joe Nathan each worked one scoreless inning.

Grapefruit League records: Reds 17-10; Twins 13-16.

Up next: The Reds remain in Sarasota on Friday and host the Devil Rays at 1:05 p.m. ET. The Twins head over to Bradenton for a 12:05 p.m. CT game vs. the Pirates.
