Arroyo allows first runs of spring

Dunn blasts third home run as Reds fall to Tigers

Reds at the plate: Adam Dunn's third home run of the spring was a hard-hit blast in the fourth inning off Kenny Rogers. David Ross bunted his way on base in the fifth and scored on Chris Denorfia's double.

Tigers at the plate: Gary Sheffield reached base safely three times and scored twice, including a fifth-inning solo homer. Sean Casey singled and doubled with an RBI and run scored.

Reds on the mound: Starter Bronson Arroyo gave up his first runs of the spring in his third start. He yielded four runs, three earned, on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Tigers on the mound: Rogers tossed three scoreless innings before giving up Dunn's homer in the fourth. The left-hander finished with two runs allowed on three hits in five innings. Joel Zumaya pitched two scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts.

Grapefruit League records: Reds 13-5, Tigers 14-7-1.

Up next: The Tigers travel to Bradenton to take on the Pirates at 1:05 p.m. ET. Justin Verlander will make the start, opposing Paul Maholm. With an off-day looming Wednesday, nearly the entire roster is on the trip except for closer Todd Jones and right fielder Magglio Ordonez.

The Reds are off on Tuesday before traveling to Fort Myers for a 1:05 p.m. ET contest on Wednesday against the Twins. Eric Milton will face his former squad opposite Sidney Ponson.
