Dunn, Crosby homer, but Reds fall

Harang roughed up as Cincinnati takes first loss of spring

Reds at the plate: Adam Dunn was 2-for-3 with a leadoff home run to center field in the fourth inning. Josh Hamilton hit a one-out triple later in the inning but was left stranded. Hamilton was 1-for-2 with a walk. Jerry Gil drove a two-run triple to the center-field wall in the sixth inning. Bubba Crosby put the Reds within two with a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth.

Tigers at the plate: Placido Polanco hit a solo home run in the first inning. Polanco extended his streak of reaching base to nine straight plate appearances before he flied out in the fifth inning. Chris Shelton added a two-run homer in the third inning. Vance Wilson hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Brandon Inge hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Reds on the mound: Starter Aaron Harang was roughed up for four earned runs and seven hits, including two home runs, in three innings. Harang did not walk a batter and struck out one. Brian Meadows allowed one earned run and three hits in one inning. Michael Gosling allowed the Wilson home run for his only hit and run allowed in one inning.

Tigers on the mound: Tigers starter Nate Robertson struck out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Robertson allowed one hit and two walks. Fernando Rodney allowed one earned run and two hits over 1 1/3 innings and struck out three. Rodney also broke two bats as a hitter. Joel Zumaya allowed one hit and one walk with one strikeout in one scoreless inning.

Grapefruit League records: Reds 6-1-1; Phillies 5-3-1.

Up next: The Reds remain in Sarasota to host a 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Indians on Friday. The Tigers travel to Port St. Lucie for a 1:10 p.m. game vs. the Mets.
