Reds acquire Todd Hollandsworth from Indians
Send player to be named or cash to Cleveland

CINCINNATI -- The Reds today acquired from the Cleveland Indians veteran OF Todd Hollandsworth in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.

To make room for Hollandsworth on the 40-man roster, LHP Brandon Claussen was transfered to the 60-day disabled list. The necessary move on the active roster will be made when Hollandsworth joins the Reds. He will wear uniform number 16.

Hollandsworth, 33, for the Indians this season hit .237 with 6 HR and 27 RBI in 56 games, including 34 starts starts in the outfield. He ranked among the team leaders with a .333 batting average with runners in scoring position and in his last 22 games overall hit .297 (3hr, 12rbi).

Hollandsworth made 30 appearances and 24 starts in left field for the Tribe and 15 appearances and 10 starts in right field. He also made 2 appearances in center field.

In 12-year Major League seasons, Hollandsworth has produced a .273 career batting average for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Texas Rangers, Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves and Indians. His 7 career pinch-hit home runs ranks T8th among all active players.

A veteran of 14 post-season games, Hollandsworth appeared in a pair of National League Division Series with the Dodgers (1995, 1996) and was a member of the Marlins' 2003 World Series championship club.
