Chicago's Gload AL Rookie of Month for September
Ross Gload of the Chicago White Sox, who hit .403 with 16 RBI, has been named the American League Rookie of the Month for September.
Gload, 28, went 27-for-60 and hit four home runs in 26 games last month. He led all AL rookies with a .687 slugging percentage and was second with a .446 on-base percentage. A native of Brooklyn, NY, Gload also had 10 runs and seven doubles, while striking out only four times.
Other rookie players who excelled in September were Seattle's Jeremy Reed (.423, 10 runs), Kansas City's David DeJesus (.268, 4 HR, 16 RBI, 17 R) and Oakland's Bobby Crosby (5 HR, 14 RBI).
Rookie pitchers who made a mark included Zack Greinke (2-1, 1.99 ERA) of the Royals; Baltimore's Daniel Cabrera (3-0, 3.46 ERA); Chris Young (3-1, 4.44 ERA) of the Rangers; Matt Miller (0.87 ERA) of the Indians and Bobby Madritsch (3-2, 3.64 ERA) of the Mariners.
Gload will receive a specially designed trophy as September's American League Rookie of the Month.
