San Diego Padres shortstop Khalil Greene, who hit .320 with 16 RBI last month, has been voted National League Rookie of the Month for August.

Greene recorded 32 hits in 103 at-bats, including seven doubles and five home runs. His 16 RBI and 16 runs scored ranked second among rookies in the NL. He had a .524 slugging percentage and a .368 on-base percentage. This is Greene's second Rookie of the Month Award, having previously won in April.

Mets third baseman David Wright, who hit .303 with six HR and 19 RBI, was a close second in the voting. Other rookies receiving votes included Pirates teammates Jason Bay (.290, 15 RBI) and Mike Gonzalez (1 SV, 1.54 ERA); Greg Aquino (7 SV, 1.50 ERA) of the Diamondbacks; Yhency Brazoban (0.60 ERA, 13 SO) of the Dodgers; and Noah Lowry (1 SHO, 4.54 ERA) of the Giants.

Greene will receive a specially designed award for being voted National League Rookie of the Month for August.
