Kansas City Royals outfielder Carlos Beltran and New York Yankees right-hander Kevin Brown have been named the American League Pepsi Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for April.
Beltran led the Major Leagues with 23 runs in April and tied for the AL-high with eight home runs. In 21 games, the 27-year-old batted .316 (25-for-79) with four doubles, one triple, 19 RBI, 17 walks and seven stolen bases. He posted a .696 slugging percentage and a .434 on-base percentage. This was Beltran's first career monthly award and the first Pepsi Player of the Month by a Royal since Mike Sweeney in June 2001.
