Right-hander Joakim Soria will make his next rehab outing Wednesday with the Arizona Rangers. Soria flew to Surprise on Monday and is scheduled to pitch one inning.
Soria threw two hitless innings with three strikeouts in two appearances last week with Double-A Frisco. He's expected to join Triple-A Round Rock by the end of the week.
He's recovering from Tommy John surgery in March 2012 with the Royals. He experienced a setback with a pectoral strain in May and was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on June 9.
• The Rangers' plane arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport at 6 a.m. ET because of the nearly three-hour rain delay Sunday night in St. Louis. The team bus arrived at the hotel at 6:40 a.m. The Rangers have Monday off following a stretch of 20 consecutive games. They'll face the Yankees on Tuesday.
• Double-A Frisco pitcher Neil Ramirez was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week. He threw six scoreless innings and picked up the win against Corpus Christi in his only start last week. He's now won four consecutive starts with a 1.17 ERA, 26 strikeouts and seven walks. Ramirez is 9-2 with a 2.89 ERA in 15 starts this season. He posted a 6.28 ERA last season with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock.
