White Sox place Alejandro De Aza on disabled list; recall Jordan Danks from Class AAA Charlotte
CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s game vs. New York, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Alejandro De Aza on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to August 18) with bruised left ribs and recalled outfielder Jordan Danks from Class AAA Charlotte.
Danks, 26, is hitting .317 (69-218) with eight home runs, 30 RBI and a .428 on-base percentage in 64 games with Charlotte this season. He has reached base safely in 30 consecutive games.
Danks batted .265 (13-49) with one home run and three RBI in 29 games with the White Sox from June 7-August 12 before being optioned to Charlotte. He hit his first major-league home run on August 10 vs. Oakland, a game-ending solo shot in the ninth inning to give the Sox a 4-3 victory.
Danks joined Dave Gallagher (May 15, 1988 vs. Toronto) as the only players in franchise history whose first major-league homer was a walkoff shot (Elias).
De Aza, 28, is hitting .281 (125-445) with six home runs, 44 RBI, 73 runs scored and 21 stolen bases in 111 games this season. He ranks 10th in the American League in stolen bases and is tied for 10th in runs scored.
