The Pirates and Pirates Charities, the official philanthropic arm of the organization, announced Stand Up 2 Cancer Night at PNC Park on Friday, August 10 vs. the San Diego Padres.
Ticket packages for the promotion are $30 with $10 from every package sold going directly to Stand Up 2 Cancer. Participants buying these special ticket packages will be seated in a special section of PNC Park and at a designated time during the game will have the opportunity to stand up in support of a loved one affected by cancer.
“The Pirates and Pirates Charities are proud to join Major League Baseball and many of its teams in support of this cancer research effort,” said Pirates President Frank Coonelly. “Each and every one of us has been affected by cancer in some way. Being at PNC Park for Stand Up 2 Cancer Night is one way that we can all do something positive to combat this dreaded disease, while honoring a friend or family member we love in their cancer fight.”
The $30 ticket package includes:
• $10 donation to Stand Up 2 Cancer
• One ticket in the Stand Up 2 Cancer section in the Pirates Cove
• One Stand Up 2 Cancer cap
• One “I Stand Up For____” sign to honor a loved one affected by cancer
• Entry into the “Stand Up 2 Cancer with the Pirates” raffle with prizes including:
• Autographed memorabilia
• A batting practice experience on the PNC Park field with tickets to a future game
• A pregame on-field opportunity at PNC Park
• Seat upgrades
In addition, all participants will have the opportunity to sign a special Stand Up 2 Cancer banner that will be displayed for the remainder of the season at PNC Park inside the Western Pennsylvania Allegheny Health Systems rotunda.
Before the game, all fans in attendance are invited to enjoy a special block party on Federal Street with live entertainment, concession stands, a chance to hear from local cancer advocates including Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister. Stand Up 2 Cancer t-shirts, wristbands and additional Pirates memorabilia and prizes will also be available for purchase with all proceeds going to Stand Up 2 Cancer.
