Reds sign righty Wells to Minors deal
Veteran hurler joins eighth Major League organization
PHILADELPHIA -- The Reds have signed veteran right-handed pitcher Kip Wells to a Minor League contract.Wells, who signed Tuesday, is on the Triple-A Louisville roster. The 32-year-old was designated for assignment by the Nationals on June 24 and released on Monday after he cleared waivers. In 23 games this season for Washington, Wells was 0-2 with a 6.49 ERA. A former starting pitcher, Wells has played for the White Sox, Pirates, Cardinals, Rangers, Rockies, Royals and Nationals during his 11 Major League seasons. Wells has a lifetime record of 65-96 with a 4.71 ERA.
