Reds trade Rule 5 pick to Cubs
Former Rockies farmhand Patton sent to Chicago for cash
LAS VEGAS --- The Reds selected one player in Thursday's Rule 5 Draft and immediately traded him in a pre-arranged deal.Right-handed reliever David Patton was selected from the Rockies' Triple-A roster and was subsequently sent to the Cubs in exchange for cash. Patton was 4-5 with a 3.54 ERA in 50 relief appearances. Cincinnati also lost one player on Thursday during the big league phase of the Rule 5. Right-handed reliever Terrell Young was taken by the Nationals with the first overall pick. The 23-year-old Young was 5-10 with a 3.60 ERA in 108 games over five Minor League seasons. He was with Class A Sarasota last season.
