CLEVELAND -- Adam Dunn was more than happy to provide his buddy, C.C. Sabathia, with a bat to use in Interleague Play.

But apparently the bat was a loan, not a gift.

"I'm going to walk over there [before the game] and get it back," said Dunn, seated in the visitors' clubhouse at Progressive Field before the Indians and Reds resumed the Ohio Cup on Friday. "Absolutely."

When the Indians were in Cincinnati last month, Sabathia asked Dunn if he could borrow some bats. When Sabathia used one of them to crank out a 440-foot solo homer off the Dodgers' Chan Ho Park in Dodger Stadium on Saturday, Dunn wasn't surprised. The two ballplayers used to work out together in Arizona in the offseason.

"He's really a good athlete," Dunn said of Sabathia, who started Friday's game. "I've seen him on the basketball court and thrown some passes to him in football. He's a good athlete."

When Sabathia hit his homer -- the second of his career, with the first coming in Cincinnati in 2005 -- Dunn was one of the first people he texted. Dunn was happy to help, but he's apparently not going to let a bat that has some big hits in it get away.
