NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Reds traded outfielder Buck Coats to the Blue Jays on Wednesday for a player to be named later or cash.

Coats was designated for assignment on Nov. 28 when the Reds signed free-agent closer Francisco Cordero.

The 25-year-old Coats was claimed off trade waivers by Cincinnati from the Cubs on Aug. 28 and batted .206 (7-for-34) in 20 games with no homers and two RBIs. In 127 games combined with Triple-A Iowa and Louisville, he batted .308 with 11 homers and 63 RBIs.
