Rockies at the plate: Colorado sent 10 men to the plate in the first inning and scored six runs on six hits. Chris Ianetta had a two-run single in the inning and pitcher Josh Fogg capped the scoring with an RBI double. Matt Holliday struck out his first two times up, but then crushed a home run to center in the fourth.

D-backs at the plate: Scott Hairston, who found out in the morning that he had made the team, responded with three home runs in three consecutive innings. The first was a solo shot in the second and one inning later he hit a two-run blast, before connecting on another two-run shot in the fourth. All three of the homers came off Fogg.

"If I had known Scotty Hairston would have responded like that I would have waited until Opening Day to tell him he was on the club," D-backs manager Bob Melvin joked. "That was pretty impressive wind blowing out or not. Smokes a ball to right-center field, left, the second one the wind helped it, but the third one goes out of Yellowstone."

Rockies on the mound: It was a rough outing for Fogg, who is expected to be the team's fifth starter. The right-hander allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 13 hits in 3 2/3 innings. Fogg was unable to get out of the fourth inning as Arizona sent 10 men to the plate.

D-backs on the mound: Dana Eveland didn't help himself in his quest to be one of the final pitchers kept on the roster as he allowed nine runs on 11 hits over four innings. Eveland allowed six runs in the first, one in the third and two in the fourth.

Cactus League records: Rockies 13-12; D-backs 17-10.

Up next: The Rockies travel to Mesa on Wednesday to take on the Cubs. Opening Day starter Aaron Cook will pitch for the Rockies against Mark Prior. Meanwhile, the D-backs will close out the Tucson part of their spring schedule with a game against the White Sox. Dustin Nippert will square off against John Danks.
