Reds at the plate: Brandon Phillips slugged his fourth home run of the spring leading off the game, popping a drive over the left-field wall. Josh Hamilton had two hits and drove in a pair of runs, bringing home Edwin Encarnacion with a first-inning single and scoring Scott Hatteberg with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Cincinnati scored its fourth run on an Andy Phillips error in the sixth.

Yankees at the plate: Robinson Cano shot an opposite-field single to left in the second inning, scoring Hideki Matsui, and later added another hit to his evening's work. Doug Mientkiewicz brought home New York's second run with a sacrifice fly. Kevin Thompson hit a solo homer in the ninth to finish the Yankees' scoring.

Reds on the mound: Aaron Harang limited the Yankees to two runs and seven hits over four innings in his longest effort so far this spring. The right-hander walked none and struck out two, throwing 77 pitches (55 strikes).

Yankees on the mound: Mike Mussina continued to struggle with his command this spring, serving up a leadoff home run to Phillips and allowing three runs (two earned) over a three-inning stint. Mussina walked one and struck out one, throwing 56 pitches (37 strikes). Reliever Brian Bruney made his first appearance of the spring and pitched a scoreless fourth inning, walking two and fanning two, while Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless fifth around a single.

Up next: The Yankees welcome the Twins to Legends Field on Wednesday, facing off under the lights at 7:15 p.m. ET. Right-hander Jeff Karstens is scheduled to start for New York, with right-hander Carlos Silva going for Minnesota.

The Reds are back home on Wednesday to play the Devil Rays at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Bronson Arroyo is scheduled to start for Cincinnati, with right-hander Edwin Jackson going for Tampa Bay.
