Ketchup is the eldest of all the Hot Dog Racers, a grizzled veteran, and the most revered. He is a longtime fan favorite and reminds some of the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. with the way he races. When fans leave Kauffman Stadium they know that Ketchup has given his all for them.

Mustard is the "Hot Dog" of the bunch. Known for his confident and sometimes surly attitude, he has always raced with a chip on his shoulder and his "win at all cost" tactics leave fans wondering what he'll do next.

Though he may be the consummate condiment underdog, Relish more than holds his own when it comes to the Hot Dog Derby. With championships 3 out of the last four years and a possible 3-peat on the horizon, he certainly "relishes" the chance to beat his condiment brethren. Relish is a flat out winner, but never has to say it; he always proves it on the dirt.

The 'Hot Dog Derby' at Kauffman Stadium is a second generation competition that begun as 'The Dot Race' dating back to the 1980's. One of the early animated versions of 'The Dot Race' had various colored dots running past several KC landmarks on their way to the finish line at the ballpark. That video version dates back to the introduction of the JumboTron in 1990.
The 'Hot Dog Derby' race replaced "The Dot Race" in 2003 and fans immediately had an affinity to their favorite condiment. In 2007, the Royals introduced the live version of the Hot Dog Derby race. On the weekends, people in Ketchup, Mustard, and Relish costume outfits race along the warning track to the finish line near home plate.
There have been some great battles down to the wire in several seasons - including some championship run-offs due to a tie in the standings.
The Hot Dogs have acclaimed near celebrity status locally. They have been seen in television commercials, fan videos, and now their very own bobbleheads!
