Update 7/31:
Sounds like Marty Brennaman will keep his word -- with a catch. The Reds have announced that Brennaman will shave his head on the field following Friday’s game (note the date change) IF fans fans raise $20,000 for the Reds Community Fund. If donations don’t reach $20,000, the veteran announcer will shave his head in private before the game.
To donate, visit Reds.com/community.
Original Post:
Promises, promises Marty.
The Reds' longtime radio man made a vow earlier in the season that if Cincinnati won 10 games in a row, he would completely cut his long, white mane. Well, the red-hot Reds won their tenth straight on Sunday against the Rockies and Brennaman stayed true to his word, declaring he would shave his head "absolutely bald."
Stay tuned for video of the head shaving ceremony, set for Saturday, August 4. It's no Jose Reyes dreadlock cutting, but should still be a buzz-load of fun.
