As one commentator so aptly put it, "This isn't arena baseball."
Umpiring his 4,000th career game, Tim McClelland is no stranger to controversial calls. Just ask George Brett.
On Tuesday, McClelland initially ruled this play an out, but upon further review, the call was changed to a double for Jeff Francoeur.
"I was so concerned about home run or not a home run, and when I saw the ball pop up and the catch, instead of calling it wasn't a home run, I put my hand up," McClelland explained.
"You would think a guy with 4,000 games would have enough experience not to do that."
