Astros In Action Foundation to Host 2011 Fanfest on April 9 and 10

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Astros and the Astros In Action Foundation will host the team's annual FanFest on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10. FanFest events will take place primarily on the main concourse of Minute Maid Park and include autograph sessions with a number of current players and former Astros, Talkin' Baseball seminars with Astros broadcasters and staff, silent auctions and the popular Garage Sale of Astros promotional merchandise and "memory lane" autographed items.

FanFest admission is free each day with the purchase of a game ticket to the April 9, 6:05 p.m. game and April 10, 1:05 p.m. game vs. the Florida Marlins. Proceeds from the autograph sessions, Garage Sale and Mystery Grab Bags will benefit the Astros MLB Urban Youth Academy at Sylvester Turner Park. In addition, in-stadium and online auction proceeds will benefit relief efforts in Japan.

Saturday's activities will begin at 12:00 p.m. with gates opening at 11:00 a.m. The first day will feature four autograph sessions, two from 12:00 p.m. - 12:50 p.m. and two from 1:00 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. Each session will include autographs from four current players for a donation of $20 per session. Details about the players participating in each session, information on the sale of autograph tickets and each day's schedule of activities will be announced in the coming weeks and will be available at

On Sunday, FanFest activities will begin when gates open at 11:30 a.m. in advance of the 1:05 p.m. game. Both Saturday and Sunday will include appearances from former players, the Garage Sale, Mystery Grab Bags and auctions and kids will enjoy face painters, clowns and other free activities.

About the Houston Astros MLB Urban Youth Academy

The Houston Astros MLB Urban Youth Academy, a joint venture between the Astros, Major League Baseball and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, provides baseball and softball instruction for boys and girls from the Houston area. The facility includes a show field with seating for 500 fans, dugouts and lights; one auxiliary field; two youth baseball/softball fields; 1,500 square feet of office space and a multi-purpose indoor practice facility scheduled to open in the summer of 2011.
