Johnny Bench Night at GABP - Saturday, September 17, 2011

Statue Dedication - 5 pm
The public unveiling and dedication for the Johnny Bench statue outside the Reds HOF & Museum will take place at 5pm. Johnny will be joined by friends and family including teammates Joe Morgan, Dave Concepcion, Cesar Geronimo, George Foster and Doug Flynn. The statue was created by local sculptor Tom Tsuchiya, who also created the statues of Ted Kluszewski, Ernie Lombardi, Frank Robinson and Joe Nuxhall on Crosley Terrace.

Pregame Ceremonies - 6:30 pm
A special on-field ceremony at 6:30 pm will feature highlights from Johnny's career and a ceremonial first pitch by Johnny prior to the Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers at 7:10 pm. Game tickets are available at or by calling (513) 381-REDS.

Johnny Bench Book Signing - 3 to 4:30 pm
Johnny will be signing copies of his inspirational book "Catch Every Ball: How To Handle Life's Pitches" from 3 to 4:30 pm at the Reds HOF & Museum. Ticket packages for the signing are $45 for museum members and $50 for non-members. Packages include admission to the museum, the fifth bobblehead in the Johnny Bench bobblehead series, a copy of Johnny's book and a guaranteed spot in the signing line. A limited number of ticket packages are available and pre-orders are strongly recommended. Please note that Johnny will only be signing copies of the book that have been purchased as part of this ticket package and will not be signing any other items, including books purchased outside of this ticket package. Extended HOF & Museum Hours
On Saturday, the museum will open at 10 am and close one hour after the end of the game. General admission is $10, students and seniors $8, active military and veterans $6 (with valid military ID) and children 4 and younger are free.

Bench Bobblehead #5
Complete your set with the fifth in a series of five Johnny Bench collectible bobbleheads, presented by Dinsmore and Shohl LLP. Bobblehead #5 is free with full-price paid admission to the Reds HOF & Museum on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while supplies last.

Pewter Statue
Bench Night also marks the official release of a collectible, pewter version of Johnny's statue that will be available for sale at the museum.

28th anniversary of the first Johnny Bench Night
Twenty-eight years ago on Sept. 17, 1983, Johnny Bench Night was held at Riverfront Stadium where Johnny was honored for his 17-year Major League career, all spent with the Reds. During the game he hit his 389th and final home run. He retired at the end of the season.
